Western 10 Miles
CHAMPION – NICK PERCIVAL IN A PERSONAL BEST TIME DESPITE LIMPING BEFORE THE START, BRIAN OSBOURNE KEPT THE PRESSURE ON THE WHOLE WAY Early leaders – Bernie Cannan (57), Nick Percival (74) and Brian Osbourne (hidden).
Peter Hughes leads the Northern AC pursuit followed by Alan Poslethwaite and Kevin Vondy. and Kevin also has a pack on his tail. Phil Cain (59), Paul Dickinson (56) and Cliffie Keys (82) are next approaching Patrick followed by Allan Corran, Graham Stigant and Alan Bagley. Bernie Cannan put up a good show to finish fourth. The four times(?) previous winner has had a difficult year after collapsing suddenly in the winter and its good to see him in fairly good shape again. No handicapping for Alan Poslethwaite to worry about today! New blood is what the sport needs and although Cliffie Keyes has walked the Parish Walk and Paul Dickinson has run the London Marathon twice, they are still not that well known on the running scene and they were both welcome additions to the Western 10. Graham Stigant had passed Phil Cain. 20 mile champion Peter Hughes didn’t feel half as good last night. After improving nearly every year in the Western 10 he was still feeling under the weather after being ill during the week.
