WALTER RETIRES - by Richie Stevenson

The recent Creg Ny Baa race saw the end of an era in Manx fell running when timekeeper Walter Kennaugh announced it would be his last race behind the stopwatch. Walter, who believe it or not is well into his eighties, timed his first race at the Creg Ny Baa way back in 1981 and he has only missed a handfull of races since. Constant back pain has made life very uncomfortable for Walter for a number of years and he feels now is the time to hang up the watches. On behalf of  the committee of MFR and all fell runners I would like to record our sincere thanks to Walter not only for the huge amount of work he has done over the years but for the lovely way he has gone about it. An absolutely top man.

A group of 8 fell runners are going to the final round of the English fell championships at Theiveley Pike, near Burnley, on Saturday. The group consists of Simon Skillicorn, Tom Cringle, Mike Quine, Dave Collister, Cal Partington, Dave Newton! ( head of entertainments) Ian Ronan and myself. Will be interesting to see how Simon gets on against a very strong field. Lloyd Taggart is also trying to meet up with us at the race. (Richie)

is an independent site designed, edited and funded by Murray Lambden.

The site was updated daily for three and a half years until June 2004 when the webeditor took a sabbatical. It now serves as a portal for Manx athletes with special features on a few events and ad hoc publishing when time permits without giving in to the addiction! Old features can be found by using the Google search below or by using the old features page. The clubs are encouraged to develop their own sites to promote their events. will complement the coverage with statistics and extra pictures but, most of all, if will try and highlight the content of other sites and give everyone a chance to air their views on the forum. which is edited by Paul Jackson, is the highly recommended sister site of
