Stan'sSteve's Martin'sAdrian'sBridget'sGraham'sParish Walk

With St Johns the scene of Saturday's hill race, I thought I would resurrect this oldie from 1976 - with apologies to Bridget who named some of the runners the last time I published it but I can't find her email.

The 1976 event, to the top of Slieau Whallian & back (and maybe a little further) was the inaugural St Johns Fell Race as part of the St John's Village Fair. The race was won by Dave Newton and Steve Kelly who earlier in the afternoon also dead heated in the Port Erin Regatta road race.

Full result from my scrapbook: 1(tie) Dave Newton and Steve Kelly 30.20; 3 Ian Callister 30.48; 4 Murray Lambden 31.42; 5 Dave Anderson 33.33; 6 Graham Crowe 34.09; 7 Tony Dale 34.53; 8 Richard Wadsworth 35.05; 9 Joe O'Hanlon 35.48; 10 John Comaiah 37.03; 11 John Wadsworth 37.30; 12 Aldy Clucas 39.00; 13 Peter McElroy 39.00; 14 Paul Lemaire 43.43; 15 Bob Baxter 46.50; 16 (tie) R Cowell and T Peace 60.00.

Ever wondered what happened to all the old features at www.manxathletics.com when, prior to June 2004, it was updated daily? Well, most of them, including the old news pages,  are still available (use the Google search below) but, if you would like a diversion, here are a couple of links to many of the features.

FEATURES PRIOR TO 2003

manxathletics.com is an independent site designed, edited and funded by Murray Lambden.

The site was updated daily for three and a half years until June 2004 when the webeditor took a sabbatical. It now serves as a portal for Manx athletes with special features on a few events and ad hoc publishing when time permits without giving in to the addiction! Old features can be found by using the Google search below.

manxharriers.com which is edited by Paul Jackson, is the highly recommended sister site of manxathletics.com
