Peel to Douglas Walk databases

1981 to 2005 - updated

by Murray Lambden & Steve Taylor

By name

By fastest (for each course)

As above (male and female)

By year

Despite brilliant organisation by Paul Jackson and Manx Harriers and quiet roads at the start, there were still plenty of hazards by the time the walkers got closer to Douglas. Not only were the roads busy but a few competitors did not keep to the single file rule (or walked too far from the side of the road) and some cars continue to park inappropriate places.  This picture on the Ballahutchin Hill (close to last week's cross country) shows what a dangerous mix athletes and cars are on a busy road. (ML)

27 not out! Ron Ronan (78) completed the Peel to Douglas Walk for the 27th time on Sunday. I haven't verified that fact but it was supplied by Dave Wilkinson who is following Ron in this picture and who has done a few himself - what was Dave's number!

Ever wondered what happened to all the old features at www.manxathletics.com when, prior to June 2004, it was updated daily? Well, most of them, including the old news pages,  are still available (use the Google search below) but, if you would like a diversion, here are a couple of links to many of the features.

FEATURES PAGES 2004

FEATURES PRIOR TO 2003

manxathletics.com is an independent site designed, edited and funded by Murray Lambden.

The site was updated daily for three and a half years until June 2004 when the webeditor took a sabbatical. It now serves as a portal for Manx athletes with special features on a few events and ad hoc publishing when time permits without giving in to the addiction! Old features can be found by using the Google search below.

manxharriers.com which is edited by Paul Jackson, is the highly recommended sister site of manxathletics.com
