Statistics by Murray Lambden

Peel to Douglas 1993 style when runners were much younger than this year (average age of the first 5 was 48 in 2011!!)

(including Paul Curphey (31), Paul Clarke (44), Mike Gellion (partly hidden), Graham Clarke (41 – the winner), Steve Kelly & Stan Hall (3)

Two runners who have been catching the eye for different reasons lately are Rob Sellors (76) and Paul Curphey (green top) pictured above by Stan Hall in the Isle of Man Bank Peel to Douglas. Second placed Rob was competing in the race for the third time and he was as fast this year on a slower surface (and running at least 0.4 of a mile further on the new course) than he was in his 2008 debut. The ultra smooth runner has this year won the Manx Marathon and improved at virtually every surface and distance. Paul was taking part in the event for the 13th time since 1989 and at 50 years of age is looking leaner and meaner than for many a year. The 2.37 marathon runner (1995) is benefiting from regular training with winner Nigel Armstrong and slightly fewer calories! Also in the second photo are 7th place Andrew Nash (75) and 8th finisher Nigel Quaye (89)
