GUN TO TAPE VICTORY FOR PAUL CLARKE IN ISLE OF MAN BANK PEEL TO DOUGLAS RUN

20 seconds or so into the race the runners reach photographer Stan Hall and already Paul has a big lead.

Mike Garrett and Peter Hughes race for third place in yesterday’s Isle of Man Bank Peel to Douglas run. The picture was taken by Stan Hall and as he took it Peter quipped: "I haven’t had my picture taken so much since my wedding!".  As well as Stan and myself taking pictures for this website (many more still to come) there were John Watterson and John Maddrell clicking for Isle of Man Newspapers and a host of personal photographers. If anyone else would like to publish their photos online, please email to [email protected]

New resident Charlie Pass (81) from Stoke-on-Trent weighed up the opposition early on.

Before powering away to a fine second place.

Peter Hughes saw off the challenge of Mike Garrett and Alan Poslethwaite to take 3rd and is pictured with Paul Clarke and Charlie Pass.

Mike Garrett felt the effects of his efforts and the late challenge from Alan Poslethwaite.

Diane Lawrence, in the best style of Paula Radcliffe, in the male company of Alan Bagley and Richard Fletcher. Richard was first home however ensuring that he beat wife Jacqui’s best time.

Tucked in behind the same threesome at Greeba is Dave Roberts.

Its the 12th time since 1986 that Dave has run the event and he equalled his best position of 10th for the fourth time!

Here is a better picture of Dave earlier in the race.

Island Games bound Diane Lawrence won the women’s event and was a minute a mile faster than last year.

Another new resident, Gill Stripp was the second best woman.
