Still going strong after 50 years. Stanley Cleator (top left) the winner in 1960 is visiting the Isle of Man especially to attend. Graham Young (top right) was just 14 when he started in May 1960 and has organised the celebration with Dermot O’Toole and six times winner John Cannell. Dave Fereday (bottom left) has finished every single London Marathon and now returns for his first finish in the Scottish Widows Parish Walk. He was there at the start in 1960 – read his story here. President of Tynwald, Noel Cringle (right) was also on the start line in 1960 – a position he has been in more than anyone else – but without a finish. He is aiming for Rushen this year.
The majority of the winners will be attendance, including Robbie Callister, Jock Waddington and Sean Hands, as many as possible of the starters in 1960, the media will be all be there and now there are a limited number of tickets available to the general public. If you would like to join this star studded night of memories and chat, contact John Cannell (332297), Dermot O’Toole (428123) or Graham Young (622043) as soon as possible. Entrance by ticket only (£7.50 each including buffet) Further information
Stop the repeats. I’m running out of old photos – this one is of me in 1976 (aged 19). And Dermot O’Toole is also looking for more photos for the second edition of his Parish Walk book. If you have any photos that I could borrow to scan, please email [email protected]
