FAIRCLOUGH, GRIFFITHS AND OTHERS STAR ON TRACK

Ryan Fairclough smashed the IOM 800m record last night with a time of 1 min 51.87 secs, writes Andy Fox. His PB was 1.53.08 from May this year which was just outside Keiron Murray’s time of 1.53.0 from 2001. Obviously the time will need to be ratified.

On Sunday Gail Griffiths won the British Vets ladies track 10km Champs. in 37.12 – another PB and achieved in windy conditions.

At the Northern Champs Manx athletes did well in many events. Some who performed well were – Kev Loundes 4th in 5km in 15.03.67, Ollie Lockley 12th. in 15.29.18,  Alan Corlett 5th in 3000m SC in PB 10.06.92, Rachael Franklin 8th. 1500m in 4.40.25 and 5th in 800m in 2.15.18.

Harriet Pryke 1st. 400m – 54.76 – a great result for the Gold Medal

Joe Reid 3rd. U20 men 400m – 49.36 – excellent podium position for Joe.

The weather at the champs was Windy so in many ways the performances were achieved in less than ideal conditions.  RESULTS (pdf)
