NEW
NORTHERN LEAGUE WEBSITE
Manx Harriers were at Stockport in Division Two
West yesterday in the first North of England league of the season writes
Chris Quine.
Unofficial position was 5th - we had to leave before the results were
finalised.
There were still some very good performances
including a number of PBs, particularly in the middle distance events. Amongst
the men, Keith Gerrard was second in the 1500m in a PB of 4.02 and Chris Shimmin
was a PB in the 1500m B of 4 m 17.9s. He has now promised to do some running
specific training! I believe he has big potential. Darren Gray is overcoming a
virus so was please to sneak under his PB.
Amonst the women, Julie Harrison was the 800m in
2.15 (just outside her PB) and the 400m too. Ciara Kaneen knocked five seconds
off her PB in the B 800m and Rachael Kelly ran a PB of 5m 13.9s in the
1500m.
In the field, Chris Whitlow won the long
jump.
Some of the old stalwarts including Andy Fox and
Dave Anderson were in action too setting times that will be amongst the best for
their age groups in Britain.
At Blackpool, the Harriers B team and
Northern/Western team were in action in Division Four West, the latter coming
second. Not too much info by way of times. Best I heard about was 14 year old
Ben Brand running 2m 04.9s for the Harriers B.
