Michelle won the UKA/RWA National 10km walk on Saturday, reports Rich Wild.  It was a very tough day. There was a 1k out and back (2k loop) with a steep climb up to each turn on tarmac which was over 30 degrees on the Hillingdon Cycle Track. She was up against some strong competition with Bethan Davies, Heather Lewis, Ellie Dooley, Lauren Whelan all expected to perform well.

Michelle stuck to her scheduled pace while the others took an early lead.  She slowly started to reel them all in one by one. After 6k she was in 2nd place, closing on Bethan. The gap was around 20 metres when Bethan got her 3rd red card and was pulled out. Michelle cruised home in a very fast (given the course and conditions) 50:41 to be the first senior woman from the Isle of Man to win a UK national.
