Nigel Armstrong of Manx Harriers (centre) won the inaugural Isle of Man Bank sponsored Peel to Douglas Road and Trail Run on Sunday in debut time of 62min 49sec. Rob Sellors (right) of Manx Fell Runners was just under two minutes behind in second place in a time of 64min 22s and just 3 seconds slower than his debut in 2008 over the shorter and smoother road route! Northern AC’s Kevin Deakes (left) competed in his 5th consecutive Peel to Douglas recording his highest finish in 3rd place in a time of 66min 44sec. The top 3 are pictured with Elaine Caine from sponsors Isle of Man Bank.
First lady Rachael Tewkesbury (second right) finished 11th overall in a time of 71min 05sec winning the Brian Goldsmith Memorial Trophy. Rachael is currently training for an ultra marathon in the south of England from Oxford to
Henley. Second lady Judith Quane (right) who was second lady in the last Peel to Douglas event- the Walk in December 2010 -finished 17th overall in 76min 03sec, whilst newcomer Caroline Mayers (left) was an excellent third in 77min 50sec in only her second ever event after winning her age class in the IOM Marathon in August in a time of 95mins.
