Steve Taylor recalls; Martin faded during the latter stages of the race and was closed down dramatically at the finish by none other than my good self finishing one second behind him in a then pb of 92.11.The following year Martin set a qualifying time for the Olympics at our meeting dead heating with Andy Penn in 83.45. Martin also said prior to a AAA 10km championship walk that if I ever beat him he would retire. Martin won the AAA lapping me several times whilst I tailed in last to rapturous applause!!</span
