NSC Douglas – Saturday 10th March 30K Walk Colin Griffin’s preparations for his first ever 50K race in Dudince in two weeks time were boosted with a solid performance in the 30K walk. Colin finished in 2:13:16 with Ilford AC’s Scott Davis recording 2:33:31 (photo by Murray Lambden) 20K Walk
Dan King of Colchester Harriers won the 20K race in 1:29:05, whilst first lady and 3rd overall Johanna Jackson recorded 1:37.18. They both achieved the qualifying standard time for the European Cup in Leamington Spa in May as did Lisa Kehler of Wolverhampton & Bilston AC (pictured below) with a time of 1:43:03. Sinead’s time was an impressive 8:47 with Alexandra just 5 seconds behind. Kevin Vondy of Northern AC (30) & Manx Tri Club’s Andy Bell had a terrific scrap for 2nd place, with Kevin eventually pulling away with 4 of the 12½ laps to go (photos by Adrian Cowin) Eve O’Hare also of Manx Tri Club ran a very strong last third of the race to overcome the early clear leader Sarah Jackson of Liverpool Harriers (photos by Murray Lambden & Adrian Cowin) Samantha Cowen (3) of Manx Harriers also finished strongly over the closing laps to shake off a determined run from Sarah Nelson (9). Samantha eventually finished 25 seconds clear in 41:41. Sarah was involved in an exciting sprint finish for the line with Western AC’s Robbie Lambie (15) & the unattached Robbie Flanders (36) who recorded identical times just 1 second ahead of Sarah.
