English Schools Racewalking Championships

Manx Harriers junior racewalkers were in action at the English Schools Walking Championships on Saturday 18th September in Stoke.  Results and report have been posted on the forum. Athletes competing were; JUNIOR GIRLS (3km) Danielle Oates, Hannah Kelly, Alexandra Ross, Olivia Watterson; JUNIOR BOYS (3Km) Juan Bellando, Alex Eaton;  INTERMEDIATE BOYS (5Km) James Green, Adam Cowin; SENIOR GIRLS (5Km) Lauren Whelan

Nigel second in Greenwich

Nigel Armstrong finished 2nd in the Adam Cole Foundation 10km run at Greenwich Park on 12th September in a time of 36m 41s. Nigel was leading the race until being outsprinted to the finish line. Nigel’s fiancee Emma Rogan finished in 32nd place in a time of 47m 24s. Results and photo of Nigel here

Bernie the Centurion

Congratulations to Manx Harriers racewalker Bernie Ball who completed the Centurions Walk in Colchester over the weekend of 7th & 8th August walking every step with Richard Spenceley of Yorkshire RWC (left).  Bernie finished 7th overall in a time of 22hrs 56min 03 sec and 2nd female finisher behind race winner Sandra Brown  of Surrey Walking Club.  Bernie is now official Centurion number C1080. Scottish Widows Parish Walk

Jock Waddington recorded the third fastest time in history in the Scottish Widows Parish Walk 2010 in a time of 15hr 18m 08s to claim a record equalling third successive win. Vinny Lynch finished second in a personal best time of 15hr 57m 42s , with Manx Harrier Michael George in third in 16hrs 04s 07s photo of the top 3 in post race celebration mode by Marie Jackson

Keith Gerrard smashed Manx 10,000m Record

Keith Gerrard smashed the Manx 10Km track record at the Standford Invitational meeting in California  on Friday 26th March. Superb sixth for Gemma in English Schools Cross Country Championships

Gemma Astin finished a superb sixth in the Senior race at English Schools Cross Country Championships in Heaton Park, Manchester on Saturday 20th March. Sarah Astin was an impressive 28th in the Intermediate Girls Race as she battles back from injury. Oliver Lockley finished 123rd in the Intermediate Boys race. Manx Harriers at the Inter Counties Cross Country Championships

Manx Harriers athletes were in action at the Inter Counties Cross Country Championships in Birmingham on Saturday 13th March. Gail Griffiths finished 142nd out of 265 (5th counter) Lancs team were 15th out of 27 teams. Gemma Astin finished 21st helping Lancs team to SILVER MEDAL in U20 Womens Race. National Cross Country Championships

Manx Harriers athletes competed in the English National Cross Country Championships on Saturday 27th February in Leeds. Merseyside Schools Cross Country Championships

The Merseyside Schools Cross Country Championships were held at Arrowe Park on the Wirral on Saturday 6th February. A small but talented squad represented the Isle of Man Schools, many of them members of Manx Harriers. Results below as texted to Andy Fox. Great results I am sure everyone will agree. Gold for Harriet

Congratulations to Harriet Pryke who won GOLD in her first ever senior 400m race. As the only Manx athlete competing in Sheffield on the weekend of 16th/17th January at the North of England Indoor Track & Field Championship, Harriet won her heat of the 400m in a new indoor PB of 58.6.
