Winner of the 10Km and 20Km Walks Aaron Egan (left) and Evan Lynch (right) both of Clonmel
Evan Lynch of Clonmel was the winner of the 20Km Walk in a time of 1hr 32m 28s, just under 11 minutes clear of David Kidd of St Laurence O’Tooles who finished second in 1hr 43m 15s. Richard Gerrard of IOMVAC finished third in 1hr 45m 11s to claim the Northern Area Championship ahead of Manx Harriers walkers Michael George and Richard Wild who recorded 1hr 46m 20s and 1hr 48m 42s respectively.
In the10Km walk, Clonmel’s Aaron Egan took the honours in a time of 47min 46sec, ahead of first lady Veronica Burke of Ballinasloe who recorded 52min 48sec. Jock Waddington of Manx Harriers was third overall in 53min 20sec. Stephanie Quayle of Manx Harriers was the first local lady in a time of 63min 04sec.
Manx Harriers Juniors Olivia Corran and Holly Sanders finished 1st and 2nd respectively in the opening event of the day, the 1km walk. Olivia finished in a time of 6min 43sec, with Holly close behind in 6min 55sec. Daniel Lawrie fininshed 3rd in 7min 47sec. Sarah Glennon from Mullingar Harriers won the 3km event in a time of 16min 5sec ahead of Anna Bourke of Celbridge and Orla O’Connor of Waterford who both recorded 16min 29sec. Stephen Waddington was the first boy to finish in 18min dead with clubmates Archie Walter recording 18min 50 and Alice Bellando 19min 14sec.
Tom Partington recorded a personal best by 20 seconds to win the 5Km in a time of 24min 16sec with Joe Mooney of Adamstown 2nd in 25min 01sec and Gearoid McMahon of Shannon AC 3rd in 25min 45sec. Local walker Fiona Shaw of Northern AC finished 9th in 44min 11sec.
