Highlights of DAY 2 – Sunday 1st July

Andy Fox lead the Isle of Man Half Marathon team home in 8th place in a time of 1:18.03. Kevin Loundes was with Andy for the first 15K before suffering with a bout of vomiting. Despite this setback he went on to finish 13th in 1:21:23. Ed Gumbley finished 18th in 1:23:32 to give the team 5th place overall. In the Women’s race Sam Cowen finished 10th recording 1:38:28 mins ahead of Gail Griffiths in 11th in a time of 1:39:24. Together they recorded 4th place team finish. Good performances in difficult conditions with the heat. Men’s results & Women’s results . In the 200m heats Will Latta was 2nd in heat 1 with 22.79 and Tom Riley 1st in heat 3 in 22.52. John Halligan won the first athletics medal for the Isle of Man with GOLD in the 3000m steeplechase in a PB time of 15.56.85. Sean Cregeen was 8th in the men’s high jump final clearing 1.80m. Gemma Astin was an impressive 6th in the Women’s 1500m final recording 4.48.25 just ahead of Rachael Franklin in 7th with 4.51.12. Andrew Duncan was 3rd in Heat 1 of the men’s 800m with 1.59.65.
Highlights of DAY 3 – Monday 2nd July

In the 200m Semi Finals for men Tom Riley was 3rd in 22.64 and Will Latta 4th in 23.06. Both made the final later in the day when Tom Riley was 5th in a time of 22.44 and Will Latta 7th recording 23.33. Sarah Dowling was 2nd in the Women’s 400m heats in 1.00.27 and Harriet Pryke recorded 1.01.43 in the next heat for 6th place. Sarah made the evening final and finished 6th in 1.00.45. Michael Haslett & David Munro made the final of the men’s 400m Hurdles with Michael winning his heat in 56.86 and David recording 57.33 and third place in the next heat. Later in the evening final Michael finished 5th in 56.87 and David 7th 57.71. Andrew Duncan finished 6th in the Men’s 800m final in a time of 2.00.53 whilst Helen Sheen threw 38.70m in the Women’s Javelin final for 7th place.

In the mens 400m heats Peter Richardson recorded 51.40 & David Munro 52.79 finishing 2nd & 5th respectively. Nicola Cooil & Rachael Franklin both came 2nd in their respective Womens 800m Heats with 2.25.23 & 2.20.12 and make Thursday’s final. The Men’s 5,000m final saw John Halligan & Kevin Loundes back in action. John finished 5th in 15.56.85 & Kevin 6th in a time of 16.12.90. Gemma Astin finished an excellent 5th in the womens 5,000m recording 18.00.0. In the Womens 110m Hurdles final Rachael Kelly finished 4th in her heat with 15.81 making the final and 6th place in 15.72. Fridays relay finals will feature the 4x100m Mens team after 2nd place in their heat with 43.56. The womens team are also through with a time of 50.54 and 2nd place in the heats. The Mens 4x400m relay team are also through to the finals after winning their heat in 3.27.32. Phil Riley was 8th in the Men’s long Jump final with 6.92m. Louise Kneen & Charlotte Christian finished 7th & 12th respectively in the Women’s shot putt. Louise recorded 11m 21 & Charlotte 8m 45

Men’s 100m heats sees Will Latta DQ’d and Tom Riley make it through to the semi’s with the fastest time in heat 2 of 10.92. In the semi’s Tom records 10.76 to make the final in which he wins SILVER MEDAL with 10.73.In the women’s 200m heats Sarah Dowling finishes 5th in heat 1 with 26.41 and Harriet Pryke 3rd in heat 2 in a time of 26.95. Andrew Duncan is in action in the Men’s 1500m heats finishing 6th in 4.16.78 and makes tomorrows final. Rachael Kelly is 6th in the Women’s 400m Hurdles final in a time of 1.07.23 after a 1.07.20 posting and 3rd place in the earlier heats. Peter Richardson finishes 8th in the Men’s 400m Final with a time of 50.72. In the Womens 800m Final Rachael Franklin and Nicola Cooil are in action with Rachael finishing an excellent 4th in 2.18.62 and Nicola 8th in 2.25.34. In the Womens 10,000m Gail Griffiths & Sam Cowen are back in action with Sam finishing 10th in 43.04.32 & Gail 11th in 43.25.11. Sean Cregeen finished 10th in the Men’s Javelin with 40m 21 & Louise Kneen finished 5th in the Women’s Hammer with 33m 01
Highlights of DAY 6 – Friday 6th July

The Women’s relay team included Nicola Cooil, Sarah Dowling, Rachael Kelly & Harriet Pryke. The team won the bronze medal in the 4x100m & were 4th in the 4x400m (photo Ian Astin).
Andrew Duncan’s Men’s 1500m final saw him finish in 7th place in a time of 4.14.84. There were BRONZE medals for the mens and womens 4x100m relay teams in their finals, the men recording 43.85 and the women 51.05 whilst the men’s & women’s 4x400m teams both finished 4th in 3.21.66 & 4.06.18 respectively. SILVER medal for the outstanding John Halligan in this mornings Men’s 10,000m in a time of 33.44.54 with Ed Gumbley 12th recording 33.29.67.Men’s Team captain Phil Riley was 5th in the triple jump with 13m 38 whilst in the Women’s Hammer, Louise Kneen & Charlotte Christian finished in 7th & 8th place respectively. Louise recorded 33.67 & Charlotte 30.92
