Michael George (right) -First ever Manx winner of this classic Guernsey walk which has been held annually since 1936. Michael is pictured with his wife Irene who exceeded all her expectations to finish in 4hrs 23m 33s. Michael and Irene’s son Terence (centre) cycled round the course supporting both Mum and Dad.

Marie Jackson won the ladies race completing the testing 19.4mile course in 3hrs 19m 46s and recording the second fastest time ever by a lady.

Simon & Maureen Cox won the Husband and Wife (first couple to finish) Trophy. Simon finished 13th in 3hrs 31min 56s and Maureen was 3rd lady finisher and 18th overall.

A local plot to foil the Isle of Man challenge by changing the race direction arrows ended in chaos for Vinny Lynch, Sean Hands and Jock Waddington. Jock finished in 4th place in 3hr 04m 11s, Vinny 6th exacltly 4 minutes behind and Sean was 8th in 3hr 14m 25s.

First Team Prize went to Manx Harrriers and the first three counters l-r Sean Hands, Michael George and Marie Jackson. Local club Sarnia WC were second and Isle of Man Veteran Athletes’ Club third.

Just enough time for last minute rehearsals for a late entry in the Guernsey’s Got Talent auditions on Sunday night
