MANX HARRIERS RESULTS

Part of the good sized
crowd who watched the 10km run.
Dave Newton celebrated
his 51st birthday with a bit of painful
running – but I took him to 4th place.

Gill Churcher (121)
was the top female in yesterday’s 10km
run. Although she has put in some great
performances in the End to End Walk
(first winner on the new course) and
the Parish Walk, this is her first year
of running. Triathlon Ironman
finisher Neville Jewell, whose current
target is the Flora London Marathon
in 7 weeks time is on the outside of
the picture and Paul Trees a little
further back.

Four laps into the
10km and early leader, Benie Cannan,
has been passed by former Island Games
400 and 800 metres champion Keiron Murray
(149), Murray Lambden (145) and 10 times
London Marathon finisher, Paul Curphey
(137). Lambden stayed in front
until less than 3 laps from home when
Curphey surged past. Lambden was the
runner up, with Cannan third while Murray
retired.
The chasing group
lead by Robbie Lambie (146) and
Adrian Harrison (143). 161 is former
Manx resident Kevin Wynne-Smythe
(161) who was allowed a late entry when
he returned to the island from his job
on a cruise ship for his mother’s birthday.

Just a few of the
big band of helpers who made yesterday’s
Manx Harriers meeting such a success.
Left to right, Noel Cringle, Steve Taylor,
Bridget Kaneen and Allan Callow.
