Irish walkers star in 20km walk. Colin Griffin (42) made up for the set back of 2005 (when he was disqualified) with a dominant win. Jamie Costin (46), who was seriously injured in a car crash just before the 2004 Olympics, took second place following his remarkable recovery, and Ann Loughnane (54) in only her second 20km walk reached international standard with her winning time.  Ann recorded the fourth best female 20km time at this meeting (see below). Manx 10km running champion Mike Garrett recorded his best time for 10 years. (Pitcture by Adrian Cowin). Results at www.manxharriers.com

Australian Natalie Wood also won the Manx 10km title. She won the corresponding race last year too. (AC)

One for the record. Race Walking Record editor, Tim Watt (60) was on the Island to report on and take pictures on the walks for his magazine but also found time to run in the 10km run. At this stage he is with leader and eventual winner Mike Garrett. Some of the chasing pack are Chris Kneen (29), Kevin Vondy, (blue vest), Edward Gumbley (34), Christian Varley (dark vest), Nigel Armstrong (yellow sleeves), Ben Scott (black hat), Andy Bell (black top), Andy Gosnell (shoulder only), Murray Lambden (45) and Paul Curphey (small part of head only visible). PRE-RACE FEATURES AT WWW.MANXATHLETICS.COM

manxathletics.com is an independent site designed, edited and funded by Murray Lambden.

The site was updated daily for three and a half years until June 2004 when the webeditor took a sabbatical. It now serves as a portal for Manx athletes with special features on a few events and ad hoc publishing when time permits without giving in to the addiction! Old features can be found by using the Google search below or by using the old features page. The clubs are encouraged to develop their own sites to promote their events. manx.athletics.com will complement the coverage with statistics and extra pictures but, most of all, if will try and highlight the content of other sites and give everyone a chance to air their views on the forum.

manxharriers.com which is edited by Paul Jackson, is the highly recommended sister site of manxathletics.com
