ENTRIES OPEN FOR
MICROGAMING ISLE OF MAN MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON 2014
Entries are now open for the 2014 Microgaming Isle of Man Marathon and Half
Marathon which takes place on Sunday 10th August.
The Microgaming
Isle of Man Marathon and Half Marathon is held annually in Ramsey; the race
commences on the Promenade and finishes in the Ballacloan Football Stadium.
Entrants either complete 13.1 miles in the Half event or take on the full 26.2
miles in the Marathon. The 2013 event saw a record turnout with 465 runners in
total taking part; an 11.5% increase from the previous year. It’s an event
which attracts athletes from around the globe, including the US, South Africa
and Europe; it has established itself as one of the most picturesque and
friendly events in the racing calendar.
Colin
Watterson, Chairman of Isle of Man Veteran Athletes’ Club, comments: “We
appreciate that athletes come from all over the world to compete in this race
and that’s why we aim to deliver the most memorable of events. We must be doing
something right as people seem to come back year after year! We look forward to
welcoming all athletes back in 2014 as well as hopefully seeing some new faces
taking part.”
The 2014 event
is taking place on Sunday 10th August and athletes can now enter at www.isleofmanmarathon.com.
Entry fees are £23.40 for affiliated members and £29.25 for non-affiliated
members; all participants will be given a medal, goodie bag and of course the
ever-popular buffet on the day.
Roger
Raatgever, CEO of Microgaming, adds: “With it being the start of a new
year, it really is perfect timing to sign up and to have a goal in sight for
training. Last year’s event was a pleasure to be a part off – the Marathon
committee and the volunteers did such a great job in organising and executing
the event. I’m sure it will be just as fantastic this year, if not more!”
