KRISS AKABUSSI TO VISIT

by Anthony Brand

The Isle of Man Childrens Centre is holding a fund raising evening during which Kriss Akabussi will be speaking.  Originally the costs were £650 per table of 14 (£46 per head) however as there are so many corporate functions on during June they have deceided to sell individual tickets off at £15.00 for the night which will include a buffet.  I understand the evening kicks off at around 7.30pm and is at the Mount Murray on 17th June.  This offers excellent value and will allow small groups of people including local athletes/officials to go along and hear the great man speak.

I would be delighted if you would highlight this event as it really is for a worthy cause and may be of interest.  Tickets can be arranged through John Knight of the IOM Childrens Centre (Tel: 676076 or mob: 499762).

I met John at a branding seminar when I first found out about the event and was trying to get him to give me an hour of Kriss's time to meet local athletes (he has also been speaking with Gianni)  I'm not sure if Kriss will have any spare time during the day but it was worth 5 mins of my time.

Kriss is famous for his achievements in athletics where his greatest individual triumph was his Gold Medal in the 1990 European Championships when he also beat David Hemery's 22 year old British Record.

He began his international athletic career in 1983 as a member of the 4x400 metre relay squad and will probably always be remembered for helping Britain clinch the Gold and beat the Americans in the World Championships 4x400 metre relay in Tokyo in 1991.

In 1992 as 3 x Olympic medallist, World, European and Commonwealth Champion, Kriss was awarded the MBE by Her Majesty The Queen in her Birthday Honours List in recognition of his services to the country through athletics.

His start into television and entertainment began when he presented THE BIG BREAKFAST.  This was followed by a full time position as co-presenter with BBC'S RECORD BREAKERS.  He has presented various children's programmes and appears regularly on game and chat shows.

Kriss is currently the CEO of The Akabusi Company, a corporate communications and training company where his personality and reputation as a fantastic public speaker has made him a very popular and attractive advocate.

Kriss began his motivational speaking career over 10 years ago and is now one of Britain's most recognised and respected motivational speakers.  His infectious enthusiasm ensures that any messages hit home and motivate.

He is also an accredited personal coach, having qualified at the Hudson Institute of Santa Barbara. He is one of only 4 qualified Hudson Institute coaches in the UK.

Kriss was born in London in 1958 of Nigerian parents is married to Monika with whom he has two children, Ashanti and Shakira.  He is currently living in Buckinghamshire where he can be found teeing off at the local Golf Clubs and participating in various sports including basketball, tennis and football.  As a Christian he regularly attends his local church.

Be enthused and inspired!
