Performance of the year – Jess Draskau Petersson
Jess was born in Denmark but has a Manx mother and attended Queen Elizabeth High School in Peel. The former Island Games gold medal winner for the Isle of Man struggled to finish the Virgin London Marathon due to an injury but persevered to run 2:34:56. She was then unable to run for a significant part of the period between the Virgin London Marathon and the Olympic Marathon in London, due to her injury. Representing Denmark in the Olympics, she
didn’t put a foot wrong on the biggest day of her life to finish 40th in the Olympics in 2:31:43 – a masterclass in marathon running.
