Winner of the marathon No Rest for the Wicked, Richard Shipway, leads the same two runners during the early stages of the Peel Heritage Trail race.
Jackie Lee – first woman at Peel again
Rebecca Wallace (677) was second on the trails while Rosy Craine (624) was fourth behind Judith Quane
And Lloyd Taggart was clear of Ben Corkill and Ben Scott
Number 8 coming up. The Heritage Trail run on Friday was the 8th running event in as many days (there were two on Sunday). It followed the disused Isle of Man Railway line from Peel to the outskirts of St Johns before switching to the (also disused) line to Ramsey built by the Manx Northern Railway. This photo was taken 50 years ago just past the five mile point of the run at what was St Germain’s station. Runners will turned left here and ran on the road for a short section before reaching the coastal footpath on the return to Peel. The engine, named Fenella, has recently returned to regular service in much better condition than it was in then. (photo: Bill Lambden)
