ROAD RUNNING GRAND PRIX UPDATE BY PAUL JACKSON

Foxdale 6   Calling all Senior Ladies!

This years Manx Harriers organised Anna Maria Cutillo ‘Foxdale 6’ road run and racewalk takes place on Thursday 14th August at 7pm as part of the IOM Grand Prix of Road Running. In addition to the 24 Grand Prix entrants, this event is also open to road running and racewalking enthusiasts of all abilities

Signing on is at Foxdale School car park from 6.30pm, (£3 or £4 for non-club runners/walkers). The school toilets, changing facilities and showers will be open from 6pm.

The 6 mile course is best described as a circuit – and a bit!. After signing on is complete, all competitors will walk up Kionslieu Hill past the church to the start line. The course heads back down hill heading west past Foxdale School to the junction with the A3 (Castletown to St. Johns Road) and turning right downhill towards The Hope Crossroads. Here you will be directed by Marshals to turn right onto the quiet narrow back roads following directions to The Eiary rejoining the A24 around the reservoir and heading back towards Foxdale past the MSPCA and back to the School where the race finishes.

The presentation and a buffet, will take place after everyone has finished in The Baltic Inn, Foxdale courtesy of Proprietors Mr and Mrs Keyes. The race winner will be presented with the Anna Maria Cutillo Trophy by Anna’s parents and her sister Julianna.

There are also prizes for RUNNING : 1st, 2nd, 3rd Senior Man; 1st, 2nd, 3rd Senior Lady; 1st, 2nd, 3rd Vet Lady (35+), 1st Vet 40 Man; 1st Vet 45 Man; 1st Vet 50 Man; 1st Vet 55 Man; 1st Vet 60 Man. WALKING 1st, 2nd, 3rd Man; 1st, 2nd, 3rd Lady

With no senior ladies entered in the Grand Prix and a lack of  seniors currently roadracing, the Senior Lady prizes are up for grabs for any novice under the age of 35 who is willing to turn up and have a go.

Manx Harriers would like to thank the family of Anna Maria Cutillo for their continued support for this event. Thanks also Mr & Mrs Keyes for agreeing to host the presentation and buffet and to Kevin Martin who is working very hard to organise this years Grand Prix.

From Paul Jackson I should like to thank Bridget Kaneen, Ray Cox and Ron Ronan who will be organising things on the night in my absence, and thanks in advance to timekeepers, officials & marshals. Volunteers still welcome. Please email; [email protected] (before saturday) or [email protected] (thereafter).
