Graham Young was 65 on Sunday. His career highlights include finishing 4th in the 1974 Commonwealth Games 20 mile walk (the best ever placing by a Manx athlete in the Commonwealth Games) and the second fastest time British walker (ever) over 100km when winning the 1981 National 100 km (6.5 mph for more than 62 miles). For good measure he won the TT course walk more times than anyone else, competed in the very first Parish Walk at the age of 14, set a record of 15.43.12 aged 25 in 1971 and won again (the next time he tried) in 1992! The three times Commonwealth Games athlete and centurion has been a judge, IOMAA secretary, chairman and manager of Boundary Harriers and was the local organiser of the 1985 world walking championships in the Isle of Man.
