The Bank of Scotland Winter
Walking League commences on Sunday 26th October 2003. Promoted by Manx Harriers, this handicapped
series is popular with competitive racewalkers, 'Parish Walk' & 'End to
End' regulars and beginners. The league is an ideal opportunity for walkers of
all abilities to improve their level of fitness and walking technique over the
winter months.
The first round at
the NSC Perimeter roadway, Douglas is a scratch start with the handicap
times for round 2 calculated from the results/finishing times of this
race. Handicaps will be reassessed after each round and competitors must
complete 5 out of the 7 races throughout the winter to qualify for the league.
With the handicapping
system everyone is in with a chance of taking the honours in individual races,
with those who improve the most throughout the series likely to be challenging
for the top league postitions in the final points tally. There are 2 race
distances over 5Km and 10Km with Junior races at 2Km and 1Km. Entry fee for each race
is £3 (£1 Juniors)
