Teams
Thanks to Colin
Halsall and all his team of officials
for their work tonight. The results
were made available to me just after
9 and, although scanning them is not
the ideal solution, they were on line
less than 2 hours after the end of the
race.

GO (AB)
GONE (AB)
The leaders at the bottom of Bray
Hill, less than a mile into the race. Richard Ward
(33) of the Manchester University – Alehouse A team
matches strides with team mate Owen Green (40). A
third member of the club,Manuel Da Silva(39), who eventually finished
12th, is third at this point. (ML)
Manx Harrier Paul Clarke(67) leads the local charge
which mainly consisted of his club but Richard Jamieson
(blue vest) was the leading Northern AC runner in
15th.(ML)
At around the half way point Green has
edged ahead of Ward despite going slightly astray when he
arrived ahead of the marshal to direct him across
the bridge. (ML)
but keep an eye on the next three,
Tim Crossland of Leed University – Doss A (2), and
Altrincham & District A.C. team mates Lee Hurst (49) and David Norman
(54). (ML)
The Manxies are having a good
battle in the top half of the field. Manx Harriers
team mates Steve Partington (100), Mike Garrett
and Keiron Murray (74) have Southport Waterloo’s
Neil Adshead (85) and Andy Bell (95) for company.(ML)
Half a mile further down the road
at the war memorial and Owen has been caught by
Hurst, Norman & Crossland as Green’s makes a
move. Anthony’s picture shows many of features
of the Douglas sky line. The traditional promenade
architecture, which at one point was consistent
along virtually the whole promenade, is overshadowed
by the white block on the left. This is the headquarters
of Royal Bank of Scotland International and occupies
the site of the former Villiers Hotel.(AB)
Karrissa Hawitt of Warrington
AC won the women’s race by more than 2 minutes.
Here she has international race walker Steve Partington
for company. (AB)
IMPROVED COVERAGE OF THE LADIES
TODAY AT PEEL WHEN THEY HAVE A SEPARATE RACE
Half a mile from the finish and
a new leader has emerged. Lee Hurst has pulled right
through and judged things to perfection.(ML)
And Tim Crossland has followed him through to
claim second. (ML)
David Norman is on his way to
third by
two seconds from Owen Green with Richard Ward dropping
to 5th. (ML)
The battle for the Manx honours
is close again. Paul Clarke (67) finished in 8th
place with Gianni Epifani (65) in 10th and Andy
Fox in the background in 11th. 9th place is listed
as number 50 Lee Taylor, presumably the runner behind
Clarke. Number 60
is not shown on the official results. (ML)
A few years ago that honour to
be the top runner from the Isle of Man would
have been between Dave Newton (76) and Steve Kelly.
Look closely at who is next on the road. After all
those years they can’t stay apart! (ML)
