James Walsh was in dominant form during the Easter Athletics Festival in the Isle of Man winning both men's races by huge margins and setting the fastest time in the 4 x 5km relay for good measure.

Sarah Inglis (825) was the overall winner of the women's competition with wins in the 10km road run and Peel Hill race and second in the 5km road run. Emma Raven (850) was second overall and won the 5km. Sula Young, third overall, was only 10th in this picture (just  ahead of Gail Griffiths 862) but finished fourth. Kerrie Harris (orange vest) finished finished 5th in this race and 6th overall).

Matthew Gillespie (355) finished 2nd) in every category but at the top of Peel Hill he was following eventual 3rd placed Michael Gillespie (5th overall) Alex Bellow (4th on the day but 3rd overall).  Even in April the remnants of the worst winter weather in the Isle of Man for many years can still be seen on the mountains in the background.

Charlotte Roache (white), Ruth Joss (yellow) and Gemma Astin (red) are all exhausted on Douglas promenade after a close finish.

Record equaling Paul Thompson was challenged throughout the Okells Manx Mountain Marathon by Dan Gay (who was forced to retire in the closing stages) and by the weather which was windy and at times wet overhead with snow, bog and river crossings like these  to contend with underfoot - not to mention the statutory mountains to climb!

Jackie Lee has become a Manx resident since winning last year and she was just as dominant on her adopted ground.

Debut and second - Ian Ridgeway made light work of his first ever run in the MMM to take second place.

Snow and gale. Manxman Ian Gale, a former winner, finished third.

In your view, which of the following accounts most for the decline in entries from Manx athletes in the Easter Athletics Festival (see manxharriers.com)?
The lack of non veteran athletes on the Island.
People prefer to compete against the same people all the time.
The entry fee is too high.
More athletes are putting themselves second and prefer to help than compete.
Athletes have changed their racing plans from 10 years ago.
