The picture was taken as a slide by my late father Bill at the 1976 Manx Mountain Marathon and scanned by my brother Mike. Although it was captioned as "Jos Naylor", and Jos did win it in 04:23:35, Ian Ronan has advised that the two runners were (No. 20) Michael Gray and (No. 25) Allan Corlett who were 23rd and 24th in the Standard Class with times of 6.22.05 and 6.22.06, both of Boundary Harriers. Does my memory serve me correctly – did we used to go for showers at Rushen Football Club? Certainly the prize presentation was at the Villiers Hotel in Douglas (remember that?) with George Broderick doing the intros and the late Arthur Jones the back room work. If you can remember those days then use the forum or send me an email to [email protected]
