Stan'sSteve's Martin'sAdrian'sBridget'sGraham'sParish Walk

Former British International walker Denis Jackson was 60 this week. Denis, who competed for the York Race Walking Club, is an uncle of Manx Harriers Chairman Paul and is pictured above in the World Cup held at St Johns in 1985. He is seen (top right) competing in his home city for the post office and (right) racing against webmaster Murray Lambden (again at York) in 1983.  Denis was my biggest rival as a race walker (he usually beat me!). A fierce competitor, a true sportsman and a great friend. (ML)

Denis Jackson is the fourth fastest British Walker ever at 50km with a best time of 4:03:08 set in Madrid in 1986 as a 40 year old. He has raced in the Isle of Man many times as has his son Graham.  Graham thinks they should both tackle the Parish Walk some year.

manxathletics.com is an independent site designed, edited and funded by Murray Lambden.

The site was updated daily for three and a half years until June 2004 when the webeditor took a sabbatical. It now serves as a portal for Manx athletes with special features on a few events and ad hoc publishing when time permits without giving in to the addiction! Old features can be found by using the Google search below.

manxharriers.com which is edited by Paul Jackson, is the highly recommended sister site of manxathletics.com
