Sadly I must report that at the end of a tragic year in which his wife passed away, Dave Capelen suffered a heart attack last Thursday evening. After two days in coronary care, thankfully he is now back home but will be off work for at least a month.

Dave is a former coach whose late father Walter was for many years secretary of Manx AC.

Here is Dave (9) during the Boundary Stroll in September (ML)

And here is one to (hopefully) put a smile back on Dave's face. The winning team from the 1976 TT Course Relay Walk. After Simon Capelen and I entered teams in the name of the Ministry of Silly Walks in 1974 and 1975 (you have to remember Monty Python's Flying Circus to understand) we both recruited our elder brothers to the team in 1976 and "Manxified" the name as the Isle of Man Board of Silly Walks. We were only 19 and I recall we weren't altogether popular for being so lighthearted but we went to the prize presentation in what was perceived (in those days) to be Civil Service attire (but not hairstyles) to claim our trophy. Left to right: Dave Capelen, Simon Capelen, Murray Lambden and Martin Lambden - Martin has surely changed the least! is an independent site designed, edited and funded by Murray Lambden.

The site was updated daily for three and a half years until June 2004 when the webeditor took a sabbatical. It now serves as a portal for Manx athletes with special features on a few events and ad hoc publishing when time permits without giving in to the addiction! Old features can be found by using the Google search below or by using the old features page. The clubs are encouraged to develop their own sites to promote their events. will complement the coverage with statistics and extra pictures but, most of all, if will try and highlight the content of other sites and give everyone a chance to air their views on the forum. which is edited by Paul Jackson, is the highly recommended sister site of
