FURTHER COVERAGE OF THE AAA CHAMPIONSHIPS AAA CHAMPIONSHIPS PICTURES BY MIKE & MURRAY LAMBDEN Daniel Cains wins the 400 metres but who would have bet (in the last 6-7 years) that Duane Ladajo would be qualifying (subject to achieving the time) for the 2003 World Championships? Ian Mackie (partially hidden) was 3rd. The Birchfield clubmates are so different in stature! Daniel was happy to pose for photos throughout the weekend. This one was in the stand on Saturday. Without the world quality sprinting the AAA Championships would have been hugely disappointing such is the lack of depth in some other events. But Darren Campbell and Dwain Chambers are two real stars. Campbell always manages to surprise and I doubt that many would have him marked down for second in the 100 let aloner 3rd in the 200. Tara Krzywicki (638 and second in the picture) set a National record of 6.28.07 in the 2000 metres steeplechase. Liz Egan, who leads, set a personal best but was some 30 seconds behind Tara. Darren Richie supported the championships even if several of the other top field eventers didn't. He was rewarded with victory in the long jump.
