Middle Distance Training News
For those who attend these sessions please note there will be no session this Thursday - 3rd July.
The sessions will return on 10th July through until
the end of July. Graham and myself have decided to not hold any sessions through
August, September and October and are intending to restart again in November
with a view to building up for Lancashire Cross Country Championships and other
events next year. Keep an eye on the www.manxathletics.com forum in the autumn for more information. Thanks to those who have supported the sessions
over the past few years. (Chris Quine)

Well done and a sincere thank you to all those who have
returned their Smartie Tubes so far. We got 23 tubes (or bags!!!) handed in for
lollies last Wednesday and the result is £192 collected for the Aaland 2009
Games fund. What a great result!!! But hopefully this is only the total so
far. If you forgot to bing in your Smartie tube and change last week PLEASE
DO BRING IT TO THE TRACK LEAGUE THIS WEEK. You can hand it in at the tuck shop
in the club house and Wendy will give you your thank you lolly in return. Do try
to remember as your support will mean more athletes can travel to the games and
you will be directly helping us to win more medals for the Isle of
Man. (Andy Fox)

The latest fundraiser for the IOM Athletics team for the Aaland Island Games in 2009 is based around tubes of Smarties !!!
At the track league this week young athletes were asked to sponsor the athletics team by taking a tube of Smarties. These can be eaten with family and friends - or on your own if you're feeling hungry. In return we are asking the athletes to collect 20 pence pieces in tubes and return them to the track league registration desk by Wednesday 25th June 2008. All those who return their tube with some change inside it will get a lolly from the team to say thank you. So please start collecting your 20p's today and let's see how much we can raise to help our athletes win lots of medals in 2009. By the way do not worry if you did not get your Smarties at the league this week. More will be distributed to the under 13 boys, all under 15's and under 17's next week. Click here for more information and thank you very much for your support. Andy Fox
