Competitors and supporters - Important safety information

As this event takes place on a very busy main road, the organisers insist on competitors wearing bright, or fluorescent/reflective clothing or bibs, and this is mandatory. Any walker not wearing clothing deemed suitable will not be allowed to start in the event. This race takes place during the darkest days of the year and the light can be poor at this time of day so good visibility is vital to give the moving traffic awareness of your presence at the earliest opportunity. Also competitors please note the wearing of earphones is strictly prohibited. Support vehicles must not park anywhere on the roadway and may only stop in areas which are off the course i.e a layby or car park.  We have had competitors back up cars putting both the walkers and other road users at extra risk by narrowing the road further when stopping on the course. Suggested stopping points; Tynwald Inn car park, Hawthorne Inn car park, Greeba Bridge Layby, Greeba Castle Layby, Crosby Inn Car Park, Marown School car park Glen Darragh Road. It would also be helpful and advisable for the additional safety of competitors and support crews if support crews would wear high visibility clothing also please.

There will be drinks stations on the route at Tynwald Inn, St. Johns & opposite the Highlander restaurant
