They were inseparable for the first 3k with Michael just having the advantage as they started the final kilometre, but a killer kick by Jock saw him pull out a 12 second advantage at the finish. Both Jock and Michael set personal bests and the first time under 24 minutes for Michael. Vinny Lynch in 3rd also set a personal best. Dave Mackey bust a gut to try and dip inside the 30 minute barrier but was frustratingly a mere 15 seconds outside his goal. John Robinson had a lonely race in 4th but kept to his task, while 5th place went to under 15 James Green who normally races at the 3k distance, but kept his form well over the last couple of kilometres. Carl Wild was 25 seconds further back while veteran campaigner Brian Brough was chuffed to beat 40 minutes.
Lauren Whelan raced at 3k to sharpen her speed and was close to breaking sixteen minutes. Jessica Isherwood consolidated her walk in London with another solid walk just over the 20 minute walk. Hannah Kelly looked comfortable in her 2k walk finding a good rhythm and looks to have much more to come. Thanks to all the officials and those supporting who turned out on a damp evening to help with the event.
