With less than a week to go until the Easter Athletics Festival, the organising committee urgently require YOUR help and support. For Friday evening’s 10K run in Port Erin we especially need lots of help with marshalling duties around the course and at the start & finish areas. Marshals should report to Arnie Jacobs between 4.30pm & 5pm at the Easter Festival van, kindly on loan from Bikestyle, which will be parked close to the finish line on Port Erin Promenade. Marshal bibs and full instructions will be given. On Saturday morning we need a team of helpers to flag the course for the hill race. The Easter Festival Bikestyle van will park half way up the headland slip road where 2 teams of course markers will take over and work together to flag the course. Free lunch from the bar menu will be provided at the Creek Inn before the athletes arrive for the race. We shall then require marshals on the road & bridge sections of the course as well as on the headland. Report 1.30pm – 2pm to the Bikestyle van, which will be parked by the Creek Inn. You will be finished for 3.45pm On Easter Sunday morning the action moves to Douglas Promenade for the 5K events. Arnie Jacobs will again be on hand to drive the Bikestyle van along the Douglas Promenade walkway from about 9.15am. He will need one or two people with him to help put out a few cones and signs along the course and set up cones & tapes at the turning point. We also need marshals along the course and at the turning point from 10.15am until approx 12.15. Please do help if you can with any of the above tasks, as we really need to make the Festival safe and successful for our large numbers of local and visiting athletes. Officials, helpers & volunteers are also invited to The Ascot Hotel 8pm – 9pm on Monday 17th March for a short presentation & pre- event briefing. There will be small buffet provided. Also of note is that all marshals/helpers are eligible for a ticket to the Sunday night presentation & beer drinking competition at The Outback.
