Dublin Grand Prix of Racewalking
Bronze medallists; Danielle Oates in the U14 Girls 2Km & James Green in the U16 Boys 3Km A party of Manx Harriers racewalkers were in Dublin on Sunday for the Grand Prix of Racewalking held in hot conditions in Phoenix Park. In the Men's 20Km Michael George finished in 102m 48s. Unfortunately Peter Kaneen did not finish. Marie Jackson recorded 58m 42s in the Womens 10Km. A great performance by Danielle Oates who won a Bronze medal in the U14 Girls 2Km in a time of 11m 02s with Alexandra Ross in 5th recording 11m 21s. In the U16 Girls 3Km race Sinead Kaneen representing the England team finished in 7th place in 17m 12s with Hannah Kelly and Jessica Isherwood recording 19m 36s & 19m 56s respectively. The impressive James Green finished in bronze medal position walking for the England team in the U16 boys 3Km in a time of 17m 04s. Unfortunately Adam Cowin was a DNF. In the U18 Girls event over 5Km, Lauren Whelan, also in an England vest finished 5th in a time of 28m 07s. The was a masters 3Km race to round off the day's events with Allan Callow recording 17m 55s, Grand Prix judge Maureen Cox finishing in 19m 55 and Ann Oates 21m 04s.
