2009 winners Janice Quirk and Jock Waddington were joined by Clerical Medical Managing Director Dean Waddingham and race director Raymond Cox at the launch of the 2010 Scottish Widows Parish Walk yesterday. Clerical Medical and Scottish Widows are both part of the Lloyds Banking Group plc. It was confirmed that Olympic medallist Roger Black will join the starters on 26 June and will be involved in the promotion of the event over the next three months.
10km racing returns to the HSBC Securities Services Manx Harriers open meeting on Saturday. Staged every other year between 1998 and 2004 it became a regular feature therafter only to be dropped last year. The previous winners are listed below but with Kevin Loundes, Martin Malone, Mike Garrett and Chris Quine (four of the first five Manx Harriers to finish in the National Cross Country last weekend) along with Andy Barron, Darren Bell, Ed Gumbley and Ben Scott entered, the overall standard should be much higher than recent years.
