The dentist's chair - Nigel Armstrong ran more than two marathons at the weekend. Last year I ran a story on 1 April that Nigel was going to run two laps of the London Marathon. If this year's feat was achieved on 1 April instead of 1 March, when it did happen, you probably wouldn't believe it. In a special training weekend for competitors in the Marathon De Sables he ran 3.12 for the marathon on Saturday before completing his 30 mile run in 3.48 after losing a couple of minutes with a wrong turning. On Sunday, he ran another 30 miler in 3.41 (passing the marathon distance in 3.14 this time). These were no ordinary runs though - he was carrying a backpack! Two weeks earlier he ran 46 miles around the streets of Douglas. He is tapering from now on - don't ask!  (words and photo by Murray)
