The campaign for real country sports

The Andreas village sports day is to be held this Saturday at 2 pm. There will be mixed sports for children and adults, including novelty races, sedan chair races, a tug of war and egg throwing! And don't forget the Great Northern Run and Walk, a road race for participants 16 and over. It starts from Market Square in Ramsey and covers a distance of about four and half miles, ending at the Andreas Sports field. For more details contact Steve Jauncy on 882010 or Steve Kelly on 812172.

Laa Columb Killey "Marathon" winners in 2009, Sarah Curphey and Nigel Armstrong (left) are joined by runners up Emma Rogan and Kevin Vondy.

Be the first to complete Laa Columb Killey walk before the Parish Walk in the same year. With the Scottish Widows Parish Walk being held on the latest date since in began in 1960, Laa Columb Killey which is traditionally held on the last Thursday in June, falls before it this year.  Or you can run the marathon course and be sure of a season's best time. There are also children's sports and big cream teas.  Find out more here. Photo by Adrian Cowin.
