Ed Gumbley reports that he did not quite get his pace judgment right but came within 30 seconds of his personal best time in the BMW Berlin Marathon on Sunday. " I decided to stick with an elite woman who was being paced but was erratic and then blew up" he said this morning after the race in the German capital. "From then on it was just a case
of making
it to the finish. It felt very tough and hot" he continued . "Training showed that I was struggling to get back to fitness after the Island Games so I was quite happy to get so close to my PB".

Ed's time has been confirmed as 2:35:38. His personal best is 2:35:14 from the 2010 London Marathon. He also ran 2:36:53 in the 2008 Berlin Marathon. Watch video of Ed (available Monday evening)
