The Leinster Management Manx 20 Miles Road Running Championship is to be held earlier in the year than ever before in 2009.  It is slated for 1 March at the National Sports Centre over 40 laps of the 800 metre traffic free road course. (NB This feature was written last year before the date was changed to 15 March)

First held in 1982, it was promoted by Boundary Harriers on an open road course from their old clubhouse at Union Mills to Peel and the Poortown Road before turning at the 10 mile point and covering the same course back to the start.

Between 1986 and 1990 a course from what is now the National Sports Centre was used which followed the main road to Peel and returned the same way. When Boundary Harriers dropped the event the Isle of Man Veteran Athletes Club took it over, initially as a closed to club members event, and since 1993 it has been an open event at the NSC.  It has proved popular with runners preparing for the Flora London Marathon.
