The above picture was taken in the summer of 1958 at Erinville, Kirk Michael and I mentioned that there were two Parish Walk winners among those photographed.

Back row: John Crowe (still residing at Belmont, the former Martins and Barclays Bank manager celebrates his 90th birthday next month), his wife Kathryn (already past that landmark but living at Elder Grange and mother of Michael, Janice and Ruth), the late Gwelda Lambden (nee Crowe - my mum!), husband Bill (died 1978), Murray Lambden (aged one - 20 years later he won the Parish Walk just a few weeks before his Dad died), Ruby Crowe (passed away 2003- mother of Linda, Graham and Nigel), husband Kenyon (Baldwin farmer whose land was used for cross country in the 70s, now living at Saddle Mews but regularly seen with walking stick watching sport at the NSC).

Front row: Michael Crowe (partner in Crowe Morgan the accountancy firm), Linda Harding (wife of Dr Frank), Graham Crowe (singer, hockey player, farmer and one time occasional athlete), Amy Crowe (grandmother of all the children, mother of John, Gwelda and Kenyon and prolific artist whose oil paintings all remain in the family), Janice Corlett (wife of attorney general John),   Ruth Sutherland (graphic designer for Duke, married to former Braddan footballer Alvin), Frank Crowe (MHK for Michael, landowner, cattle dealer and Methodist preacher who bought the Railway Hotel to prevent it being turned into the second village pub!) .

Finally, in front of Kenyon stand Mike Lambden (who followed his dad into the transport industry and has clocked up more than 40 years with National Express and will be taking photos for the Parish Walk website in a few weeks) and in front of him brother Martin who won the Parish Walk some thirty years after this photo was taken.

NEW SEARCH FACILITY BRINGS ALL MANX SITES TOGETHER

manxathletics.com is an independent site designed, edited and funded by Murray Lambden.

The site was updated daily for three and a half years until June 2004 when the webeditor took a sabbatical. It now serves as a portal for Manx athletes with special features on a few events and ad hoc publishing when time permits without giving in to the addiction! Old features can be found by using the Google search below or by using the old features page. The clubs are encouraged to develop their own sites to promote their events. manxathletics.com will complement the coverage with statistics and extra pictures but, most of all, if will try and highlight the content of other sites and give everyone a chance to air their views on the forum.

manxharriers.com which is edited by Paul Jackson, is the highly recommended sister site of manxathletics.com
