MARATHON
DEBUT CONFIRMED FOR MIKE GARRETT AFTER
ROLLER COASTER YEAR

Mike
Garrett is pictured above (ML), totally
wrecked, after the Peel to Douglas run.
He then had a good summer in the
handicap races before building up through
the autumn for his London Marathon debut
with a number of long runs and endurance
based interval sessions.
Then
in February his old back injuries came
back to haunt him. He missed the Manx
Harriers 10km, the Castletown Health
Store 20 miles and the final round of
the Manx Gas Cross Country League and
looked destined to be watching from
the sidelines in London.
But
in the nick of time, his pyschio got
him back on the road and he appears
to have recovered his form. The winner
in Peel recently he also had a fine
run in 25th position in the Easter Festival
road race.
Whilst
his preparations have been like a yo-yo,
so has his Mother's health. Diagnosed
with cancer last year, she had a successful
operation and is now undergoing regular
treatment in Liverpool as part of her
recovery.
Mike
is running in London to raise funds
for Manx Cancer Help. If you would like to help
him to help others then please pledge
your cash.
